Community Classes
Mercy provides community classes on joint pain throughout the year. Join us for a free seminar and find out what you can do about your joint pain. Learn more about some of the causes of joint pain and some of the latest treatments, including information about medications, nutrition and exercise.

Topics include:

  • Causes of joint pain
  • Anatomy of hip and knee joints
  • Why diagnosis is important
  • Treatment options
  • Appointments

Classes take place every third Friday of the month from 11 a.m. to noon at Mercy General Hospital, located at the corner of 39th and J Streets in Sacramento (4001 J Street, Sacramento, 95819). Class dates, times and locations may be subject to change, so please call ahead to confirm.

Mercy also offers Joint Adventure - a comprehensive program including exercise classes, social activities and education. Pre-Surgery Classes
Mercy’s Total Joint Replacement Program includes a pre-surgery education class. During the two-hour program, patients meet the professionals who will be involved in their care and learn about their treatment and recovery plan.

By the end of the class, patients will have an understanding of everything from their initial hospital stay through post-operative and recovery phases of their treatment. In addition, patients meet with a case manager at this time who will help to identify resources and equipment that may be needed after leaving the hospital.

Knowing what to expect is one way Mercy helps to take away some of the anxiety, replacing it with an assurance to help patients every step of the way.
